Reading bestselling author Dr. Umes Arunagirinathan

On Friday, November 25, 2022, the Migration Section of the Lagerhaus Cultural Center welcomes bestselling author Dr. Umes Arunagirinathan for a reading from his book "Grundfarbe Deutsch." Arunagirinathan was born in Sri Lanka in 1978 and came to Germany as a 13-year-old unaccompanied refugee. Now he is a specialist in cardiac surgery and works today as a functional senior physician at the Klinikum Links der Weser in Bremen. Like many other people from another country, he has repeatedly experienced discriminatory behavior from his environment along the way: Sometimes it is just a stupid remark, sometimes a serious violation of his dignity as a human being.

At the same time, there is a debate about what one is "actually still allowed to say" without being put in the right-wing corner. He does not see himself as a victim, but as a fighter for coexistence.
