Become visible Social Media & Instagram

Social media offers the possibility to make activist work in associations and initiatives visible comparatively easily and quickly and to network with other actors at the same time. In this workshop, we will look at basic aspects of social media, such as the role of the target group, the selection and design of content and the account. One focus will be on Instagram. Using our own account as an example, but also using other accounts, we will illustrate how content can be developed and an active community can be built up. Finally, we will also answer the question why a high number of followers is not as important as it seems at first glance.

Our workshop is aimed at associations and initiatives - especially migrant organisations. The speakers are both involved in an association as well: Signal of Solidarity e.V.

Signal of Solidarity e.V.

Founded in Bremen, the association has been active in the field of refugee aid since 2015 and has implemented a variety of projects in the field of humanitarian aid, integration, equal rights, activism and educational work. This work encompasses many social challenges. Educating people about these, recruiting fellow campaigners and linking up with other projects and associations is an essential part of the association's work. When it comes to activating/recruiting volunteers, generating donations and general public relations work, social media and especially Instagram are indispensable for Signal of Solidarity e.V..
