Reading bestselling author Dr. Umes Arunagirinathan

On November 25, 2022, a reading by the best-selling author Dr. Umes Arunagirinathan took place at the Lagerhaus Cultural Center. The migration section of the cultural center had invited the author to read from his book "Grundfarbe Deutsch". Dr. Arunagirinathan was born in Sri Lanka in 1978 and came to Germany as an unaccompanied refugee at the age of 13. Today, he works as a specialist in cardiac surgery at the Klinikum Links der Weser in Bremen.
In his book "Grundfarbe Deutsch" (Basic Color German), he reports on his experiences and the difficulties he encountered in Germany as an immigrant. In doing so, he conveys values that are necessary for successful coexistence in a society and shows how people from another country can find their place in German society despite discrimination and prejudice.
The reading in the warehouse was a special experience for all visitors. Dr. Arunagirinathan read from his book and also told about his personal experiences. The audience could feel how important the topic of integration is to him and how committed he is to living together in a democratic society.
